Dear Friend of Chabad of Downtown,
A few years ago a couple from Milwaukee was visiting Israel, and their friend
Rabbi Samuels was there at the same time. They made plans to meet and have some
meals together as well as travel to see various Chabad sites throughout the
country. Unfortunately, the wife became very ill and required hospitalization
during the trip. Rabbi Samuels accompanies the couple to a physician, then to
the emergency room of the hospital and stayed in an adjoining hotel while the
woman was hospitalized. He knew exactly where to find food for Shabbos, how to
help both the husband and wife during the illness, and stayed with them until
they flew home when the woman recovered. Rabbi Samuels is a resource beyond all
resources as well as a true friend in times of need.
This article describes many of the activities which
Rabbi Samuels undertakes
on a daily basis. But, as the above story reveals, his personal devotion to
individuals goes even beyond these pursuits. Your contribution to Chabad of
Downtown makes you a partner with Rabbi Samuels in his work, and as he truly
believes, gives you a share in all the mitzvahs performed at Chabad of Downtown.
Rosh Hashanah is fast
approaching. It is a time of celebrating and rejoicing in life and our
dedication to G-d. It is also a wonderful moment to thank G-d for our blessings
by continuing our partnership with someone so fully committed to reaching out to
his fellow Jews in order to educate, to offer spiritual and emotional
sustenance, and to help in any way he can as he nurtures the spirit of Judaism
and G-dliness in us all. Please help.
Sincerely,
Friends of Chabad of Downtown
